2nd October 2026

Dear Senior School parents and guardians,

It has been a busy week in Senior School, requiring regular adjustments due to haze levels. The pupils deserve great credit for adapting so smoothly to these swift changes throughout the week.

I will use this newsletter throughout the year to keep you informed of activities, trips and other events that are happening around the College.  It is worthwhile bookmarking the news page of the website, as this is where you will see more detail and some photos of these items, such as the F1 Stem teams visit to The Formula 1 Pit Lane Walk at Sepang International Grand Prix Circuit ahead of the upcoming main event.

Visit from Dr Yunus, Director of Admissions from Downing College

We were very pleased to welcome Dr. Kamran Yunus, Director of Admissions at Downing College, Cambridge, to our campus on Wednesday afternoon. Speaking to a packed room of enthusiastic parents and pupils, Dr. Yunus shared invaluable insights into the Cambridge admissions process, the power of supercurricular activities, and the unique opportunities offered by the Downing College International Programme. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A, where the audience had the chance to ask direct questions about navigating top-tier university admissions.

Our thanks go to Dr. Yunus for delivering such an inspiring, informative, and hugely beneficial talk.

Lectern Club

The academic year’s inaugural Lectern Club meeting set a remarkably high bar, weaving together resonant reflections, eloquent arguments, and deeply personal narratives under the overarching theme of Kaizen.

Read the report on Lectern Club here.

Thank you to all the Upper Sixth parents that attended Dr Tomlinson’s online presentation regarding the demand and expectations of the final year of IB as well as the appointments with beaks. Dr Tomlinson’s presentation will be available on the Senior Hub of MyMCM.
